My partner is currently serving in the ADF/ retired from permanent service, can I participate in this program?

Absolutely, Cowork Coplay programs deliver career and wellbeing support to Defence/Veteran partners.

What can I expect during the program?

Cowork Coplay programs deliver career and wellbeing support to the partners/spouses of ADF members and veterans.

It is an 8 week group program (one morning each week) incorporating self-paced learning and hands-on activities, coworking and optional workshops with external mentors. Our workshop topics include: Self development, career, wellbeing, fun and networking, ongoing support and WhatsApp group.

Cowork Coplay programs focus on career and community and offer childcare for the participants. Light refreshments and coffee and tea are provided. You will, however, need to bring food and drinks for your children.

Are there costs involved for me if I choose to participate in Cowork Coplay?

The program is fully subsidised for participants and their children. This is thanks to the support of the NT Government.

Participants are required to arrange their own transport and to bring food, nappies and other things that their children may need.

If I have been involved in Cowork Coplay in the past, can I participate this year?

Please reapply. Places are limited, however, so spots will be allocated on an as-needs basis. There are no limits to returning, if there is availability.

Do I need to be currently employed to participate in this program?

No. If you are pursuing any kind of career-related project, you’re welcome. This could be regarding self-development and exploring options, re-entering the workforce, pursuing business or study.

If I am working, can I attend and conduct my employment duties remotely from Cowork Coplay.

Yes. There is time set aside to work or study during the program. You can also opt in to or out of program workshops or presentations as it suits your needs/ interests. However, the program is a facilitated group program with learning opportunities and there are times where engaging with others is expected. If you wish to work completely autonomously, then a coworking space or library may be a better option for you. Note that we do not provide sound-proof or private spaces, for example in the case you wish to conduct confidential phone calls.

Are the sessions recorded, or can they be accessed remotely if I happen to miss a session?

We don’t record the sessions. You are always welcome to talk to the facilitators during down time (or email) to catch up on any information you have missed and are interested in.

You do have access to an online learning platform to access self-paced learning modules and resources. But this is not the full delivery mechanism for the Cowork Coplay program, which is a face-to-face, facilitated group program amplifying the benefits of community connection and learning.

If you wish to do an online program, please reach out to hello@humanquotient.com.au and we will put you on the waitlist to be the first to hear about our new online program, launching soon.

I’m on maternity leave, can I still attend?

Generally yes. You would need to confirm that there are no insurance implications for participating in the program, related to your agreements with your employer.

Does it matter what my spouse does, or how long they have been in Defence?

Definitely not. We run the program without regard to your partner’s position, time in service, or rank. The program is dedicated to assisting partners/spouses only and everyone is treated in accordance with this ideal. (In our experience, the serving member rarely comes up in conversation.) 🙂

Do I need access to a Defence base to participate?

No, there is no requirement for an ADF Spouse base access pass. All the programs will be conducted at civilian facilities that do not require special access. Further information about the exact location will be provided shortly following a review of applicants and availability of days and venue specifications.

Can I bring a friend?

Yes, but they need to be eligible to attend (that is, a defence or veteran spouse) and they need to apply. Please send them the link to the website and encourage them to follow our social media channels.

Are there age limits for my children?

Childcare, in a creche setup, is provided to children aged 0-5 years. Qualified childcare workers are trained to care for babies and children, including children with special needs.

Can carers handle children with special needs?

Yes, our carers are qualified and professional and are trained to provide care for all children. Please reach out to hello@humanquotient.com.au if you’d like to discuss your child’s needs.

I can’t speak English very well; can I still attend?

Most definitely. Everybody is made to feel welcome and supported and the staff will make every effort to assist. Please reach out to hello@humanquotient.com.au if you need an interpreter or support person.

Will another program be run in my location, as I can’t make this one?

We have upcoming programs in Adelaide (SA), Darwin and Katherine (NT) in 2026. Please send an email to hello@humanquotient.com.au to ensure you’re kept in the loop for when applications open.

I don't have children, can I participate? Is this program for me?

Absolutely!! You are most definitely welcome to benefit from the career and wellbeing support provided from the qualified presenters if you don’t have children or they are at school.

Please be mindful though that there will be babies and children around and parents may wish to discuss topics related to children. You will need to be tolerant of these discussion topics and encouraging of all in the group, just as all will be expected to be encouraging of everyone, despite their marital or family situation.
